Leading Change and Managing Transitions

managing transitions

Many organizational changes fail because the transition, the psychological process of coping with change, is not properly planned for. We'll help you identify those forces that potentially support or block your proposed changes and ways of communicating the change so employees understand the benefits. Finally, we'll develop a strategy to assist your employees in the transition process so that the change can be successfully implemented.

Some examples of Ms. Beck's experience in leading change and transition:

Ranger District Consolidation: Beck Consulting designed and facilitated a joint session for two Idaho ranger districts going through a consolidation. The session included explanation of the transition process to employees who were feeling a great sense of loss, and went on to address the logistics of the consolidation.

Centralization of Services: The Forest Service made a decision to locate personnel support services in a national center in Albuquerque. Many employees were told they would need to move, accept a different job, resign, or retire. Ms. Beck was retained to design and facilitate a session to help these employees move through the resulting transition.

Secret Service Administrative Support: The Administrative Branch of the U.S. Secret Service hired Beck Consulting to assist its staff in charting a new course forward in dealing with difficult working relationships with other branches.

New leader transition: Beck Consulting has been retained by numerous federal agencies to facilitate transition sessions for new leaders. These sessions help the new leader convey expectations to their staff and get quickly up to speed on issues they will need to focus on immediately.

Beck Consulting has assisted the following clients with managing change and successful transitions:

  • U.S. Bureau of Reclamation,
  • U.S. Department of Homeland Security--Secret Service
  • National Biological Service (now the Biological Resources Division of USGS),
